[remix fic: A Sunny Day In Tartarus]

Title: A Sunny Day In Tartarus (The Nameless Things Remix)
Fandom: BSG
Rating: R
Word count: 2839
Notes: Written for the Remix Redux IV ficathon, remixing The Reasons by Daphnaea. Thanks to [info]stars_like_dust, who looked it over for me.

Actually what he likes most about the list is the impossibility of it all, and the messages she’s left in the gaps. )

[BSG - Dee!fic]

Title: Set Light To Me Some Surprising Day
Fandom: BSG
Rating: PG-13
Word count: 4,491
Notes: I cannot stop writing lately, which is great, but also unfair on the academic pursuits that keep getting elbowed out of the way by plot bunnies. Anyway, this is my attempt to give Dee her due - just as Amateur was for Anders - and once again it was written in a very short amount of time and I'm pleased with how it turned out. [info]stars_like_dust has looked over most of it and given her gracious approval, but any remaining mistakes are my own and should be pointed out so that I can fix them and then hide my face.

Warning: it's depressing. It's as much about Lee as it is about his wife. And it has pretty much the exact opposite premise to Eleusis.

The title is taken from Any Day Now, a Missy Higgins song that I listened to a lot while writing this.

These are silver lies, shining lies, lies the colour of medals and knives. )

[BSG: Eleusis]

Title: Eleusis (and by my God have I leaped over a wall)
Fandom: BSG
Rating: PG-13
Word count: 2,833
Notes: I wrote this in less than 24 hours, which is...not something I can manage often! It's is a story about what happened to Kara after 'Maelstrom', but it's also a story about what happens when you step out of your own narrative, and about piecing together your own destiny. I don't have room to list all the other texts and ideas that I referenced (see what you can pull out for yourself!) but there is now a director's commentary. Thanks to [info]agonistes, who told me about the kyil kohr, and [info]schiarire, who poked me until I expanded on things.

Dedicated to [info]littledust, who reminded me that screwing around with the fourth wall could be fun :)

[co-written BSG EPIC - part 1/2]

Title: Those Journeymen Divine
Fandom: BSG
Rating: R
Word count: 14,330
Notes: Apparently if [info]fahye and [info]stars_like_dust are allowed to exist in close proximity to each other, they produce nearly 15,000 words in 24 hours. Who knew?

This is set between 'Unfinished Business' and 'Eye of Jupiter' and is, as will become abundantly clear, very AU.

The title is from the poem The Sleepers by Walt Whitman.

“Leave it to me,” she says, grinning. “I have a plan.” )

[BSG: Deadly]

Title: Deadly
Fandom: BSG
Rating: R
Word count: 1144
Notes: Another written-into-the-update-box fic from my main LJ that I am reposting here. I realise that Leda did this structural concept first and did it better, but I only remembered that after the fact and eh, this was fun anyway :)

His chin jerks like she's got him on a string, like she's the one in control of this frakking parody of a love story, like if she pulls hard enough all of his limbs will lift into the air and tangle. )

[co-written BSG fic]

Title: Gold To Iron
Fandom: BSG
Rating: PG
Word count: 4936
Notes: "I feel as though we should write pilot outmaking," said [info]stars_like_dust. "I'd be interested in playing with what happens immediately after 'Unfinished Business'," said [info]fahye. And lo, their powers did combine to produce this fic: five first kisses post-UB. Not in series but in parallel.

Please leave feedback here, on this post: we'll both read it, and that way there won't be comments scattered untidily between this journal and Claira's.

She knew she'd already wasted her share of second chances, and the gods had shown quite clearly how far she'd fallen from their favour. )

[old BSG fic #1]

I've posted quite a lot of little BSG things on my LJ this year that I haven't posted here, so I'm going to try and move them all over before the end of the year :) It's nice to keep things centrally archived.

Title: Dagian
Fandom: BSG
Rating: PG
Word count: 1218
Notes: A short & sweet piloty piece set some time after 'The Captain's Hand'. I am almost certain that I was drunk when I wrote it. You can tell because I abuse parentheses and italics.

She's broken that promise a hundred times. )

[BSG fic - Tessellation]

Title: Tessellation
Fandom: Battlestar Galactica
Rating: R for violence
Word count: 3404
Notes: I have been immensely enamoured of Kara and Leoben's relationship ever since 'Flesh and Bone' in S1, and the writers left a canonical gap in the flow of the S3 premiere that I found far, far too tempting not to fill in. So I scribbled a little last night and a little tonight, and this fell out. Spoilers up to 3x01 'Occupation'.

The broken glass is by request of [info]dopplegl; the accompanying citrus was inserted because I knew [info]schiarire would have wanted me to, and she owns half of my cardiac tissue.

For the record, this fic is mostly for [info]liminalliz, who has never stopped being as crazy as I am where these two are concerned :)

We are the two sides of God’s coin, subject to the law of probability. )

[BSG fic - Academy!pilots]

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, O CLAIRA MY CLAIRA.

Title: Our Pataphysical Divigation
Fandom: Battlestar Galactica
Rating: PG
Word count: 5243
Notes: Like so many of my fics, this was meant to be different. It was meant to be a brief and fluffy portrait of pilots-at-flight-school, and it turned into something else because Lee Adama is a broody bastard who won't shut up when he's in the mood for introspection. However, it retains such piloty staples as banter, Vipers, and punches in the face :D

Starbuck and Apollo make a good picture and an even better story. )

[BSG - ficathon entry]

Written for the BSG Character Death Ficathon.

Title: Belomancer
Fandom: Battlestar Galactica
Rating: R
Word count: 2401
Notes: No, I have no idea where this concept came from. Yes, I'm aware that it's creepy as fuck and distressingly lacking in pilots.

belomancy (n): fortunetelling through the use of arrows

[BSG birthday fic]

This is a birthday fic for the astoundingly talented and ever-lovely [info]brynnmck - hope you enjoy it, my dear :)

Title: Almost Rhymes With Orange
Fandom: Battlestar Galactica
Rating: R
Word count: 2064
Notes: I was a little nervous about writing quite so much Lee, as I'm not nearly as comfortable with his character as I am with Kara's, but it was interesting to play around in the sandpit of his psyche for a while. I wrote the fic using the McSweeney's fic meme, which involves using list titles from their website as prompts. Every section heading, and the title, I took from that site. I didn't make them up. Not even the one about robots.

Letters are composed in your head, never on paper )

[exchange fic]

Title: every flying machine has four basic controls
Fandom: Battlestar Galactica
Rating: PG-13
Word count: 548
Notes: This is for [info]indigo419, who was good enough to donate to [info]brynnmck's cause and requested angsty Kara/Lee with a hug in there somewhere. Hope this suits :)

[icon-drabbles]

This is me properly listing and arranging all of the iconfics from this meme.

Compiled under fandom. Some people have deleted the icons that they originally commented with, so if the fic below bears no resemblance to the icon...that's probably why. Or I could have been feeling particularly obscure that day.

Comments would be nice :) This has taken me so. damn. long. But I finished them all!

Twenty-five in all. )

[BSG crackfic]

Title: Benevolent Sibling
Fandom: Battlestar Galactica
Rating: C FOR CRACK. Um. I'll go with R to be safe.
Word count: 7671
Notes: I don't even know where to begin. The idea for this started as a silly email exchange with [info]schiarire, and I thought it might be fun to fic out. But what was meant to be a short burst of pure crack decided to grow pairings and structure and about four sub-plots whilst still not having any main plot, which I thought was quite impressive. But there's girlkissing and snark and popcorn fights and bad poetry and all those good things, so on the whole I'm feeling quite good about it :D This is set directly after Final Cut. Cylons are referred to by name rather than number because a) I haven't seen Downloaded yet and b) it's less confusing on all counts.

Thanks go to [info]rawles and [info]stars_like_dust for being encouraging, and [info]liminalliz for her determined poking and our shared love of Leoben's meditation tapes.

Enjoy. Preferably with popcorn. And most importantly: do not take any of this at all seriously. Unless you want to.

“Couldn’t we be watching something a bit more stylish?” Simon muttered. )

Title: Done With Mirrors
Fandom: Battlestar Galactica

Billy watches her and wonders how much she is hiding. )

[ficlets, many fandoms]

So last night I got very drunk and wrote ficlets for people.

Don't make that face. They're not bad. And I've fixed up the typos, though I haven't edited any further.

Fandoms include: Brokeback Mountain, Battlestar Galactica, Milliways (including slants on Arthurian legends, Hard Core Logo and Good Omens), Discworld RP AU, and an original one.

All of this, she knows, will blur in the morning )

[BSG fic - infidelirium]

Title: Infidelirium
Fandom: Battlestar Galactica
Rating: R for references to sex and violence.
Word count: 3850
Notes: This one...oh, really, there's no good excuse. It began because I wanted my Anders to meet [info]bantha_fodder's Dee, and that morphed into me seeing if I could write angsty bitter Anders/Dee. And...I did. And that somehow nudged me in the right place and a whole lot of other things fell out, so I decided to incorporate it into a larger project and write a whole fic examining infidelity. It was fun, for a masochistic interpretation of the word 'fun'. I got to play with a whole lot of characters I wouldn't normally, even if I depressed the hell out of myself by doing so. This is more experimental structure-wise than most of my stuff and so may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I hope it provides some entertainment to someone :)

Again: I've only seen up to 2x13, so this is pure enthusiastic speculation as to events following that episode. I don't know what it is with me and Anders-aboard-Galactica fics, but, er, I managed to keep his POV down to a small fraction of the whole this time.

Thanks go to [info]rawles for checking my Kat and telling me that the premise did not suck, [info]liminalliz for making encouraging noises and suggestions, and [info]schiarire for reading it over even though she's not in the fandom.

(And yes. The title is mostly facetious, but somehow I love it anyway.)

The third thing is that it's the end of the world. )

[BSG fic - Anders-centric]

This fandom really does something to my wordcounts. It's frightening.

Title: Amateur
Fandom: Battlestar Galactica
Rating: PG-13 for references to violence and sex, and...uh...corrupted not!swearing.
Word count: 8710
Summary: It's really irritating how we get so little hint of what Anders is actually like, I thought. I need a way to connect with him as a character, I thought. I wonder what it would do to the dynamic on the Galactica if he WAS rescued, I thought. Not quite 9000 words later, I started to suspect that there could have been an easier way to connect with the guy. But hey. Now you get fic!

AU after 'Resurrection Ship, Pt. 2', with a few details stolen from 'Epiphanies', because that's more or less where I've seen up to. Thanks, as ever, to [info]rawles for her canon-beta, her ruthless punctuation tweaking and her beautiful keyboard-mash commentary.

She’s everything he remembered her being and more; and it’s the more that’s important, the more that gives him pause. )

[requested drabbles]

Well, as usual, half of these turned out far too long. You people and your weird requests.

If you didn't ask for a drabble, feel free to do so now over here - Internet at the apartment won't be happening for a while, so I have many free evenings in which to write!

Firefly, BSG, Milliways, and general randomosity )
